Former Saturday Night Live cast member Taran Killam recently did an interview with Brooklyn Magazine to discuss his life after leaving the show last summer. The interview has some interesting gems from the actor known for his impressions of celebrities like Brad Pitt and Matthew McConaughey, but one of the juiciest tidbits from the piece is about our beloved wildly unpopular President Trump.
Killam was on staff when Trump was the host in 2015 and … he says dealing with the current president wasn’t the most pleasant. And no one really wanted to be there (including Trump). Killam shared:
It was not fun, and most of the cast and writers were not excited to have him there. I didn’t get the feeling that he was excited to be there, and it felt like a move for ratings from both sides. He was…everything you see.
And he confirms our worst fears about Trump in real life. What we see is what we’re getting: he doesn’t have a sense of humor and reading isn’t exactly his strong suit.
What you see is what you get with him, really. I mean, there was no big reveal. He struggled to read at the table read, which did not give many of us great confidence. Didn’t get the jokes, really. He’s just a man who seems to be powered by bluster.
And he’s our president. Yay.
See? Our despair is more festive with a noisemaker. via GIPHY
