It looks like all that big talk of a Zombie Trumpcare vote this week—Wednesday, according the White House first thing this morning—was just that. Talk, most of it incoherent. The weekend's push by leadership didn't work, and we are now just one vote away from killing it, with 22 Republicans now definite "noes." One more gone, and it's over for them.
Rep. Billy Long (R-MO) is the latest defection, and it's a big one. He's in a district that voted for Trump by 40 points, 70-30. And also this:
That's after Friday's big news that the former chairman of Energy and Commerce and reliable vote for Republican leadership moved himself into the undecided category when he said he was "not comfortable" with the latest version. So now the word out of the White House is that they're "not there yet."
I guess not. I guess we'd better keep calling to just end this thing.
House Republicans want to bring back Trumpcare—and it's being amended to be even worse to placate their extreme right-wing base. Call the Capitol Hill switchboard at 202-224-3121. Tell your member of Congress in no uncertain terms that you OPPOSE any efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
