The results of the Kansas vote on protection of abortion rights should be eye-opening to the religious zealots on the Supreme Court as it proves what is described in this article from Forbes.
The Supreme Court reigns supreme. They are the ultimate untouchables. However, to the extent some of them can be influenced by public opinion polls such as the poll from Forbes some might reconsider using their religious beliefs as a rationale for future decisions.
The Kansas vote should also be a warning to all far right candidates espousing anti-abortion positions in the coming mid-term elections. I predict we will see abortion rights as the single most important issue in states which were previously considered sure-things for GOP candidates.
The message may be the opposite of “hey Dorothy, you’re not in Kansas anymore.” It may be ‘hey right wingers you are all in Kansas” at least when it come to social issues like abortion.
