George "rentboy" Rekers is now going around saying he's going to sue the media for "defamation." And now, conservative religious defense group Liberty Counsel has come to Rekers defense with this ridiculous line:
I think [Mr. Rekers] would have a great case to file a defamation action," said Mathew D. Staver, founder and chairman of Liberty Counsel said.
"I think it was a completely arranged setup," he said, referring to the presence of writers of the free weekly Miami New Times at Miami International Airport when Mr. Rekers and his hired travel companion arrived in the United States April 13.
Gotcha. A bunch of DFHs and the Gay Lobby conspired to set Rekers up with a Longstroke special. They managed to skillfully guide his computer to rentboy.com, order up the secret operative Lucien, book a luxury getaway to Europe, all for the purpose of....what exactly?
The Liberty Counsel's Mr. Staver said he believes Mr. Rekers' recent court appearances, in which the professor testified in favor of state bans on gay adoption, became "a major focus of people trying to discredit him as an individual."
"I think that it's the classic [tactic], 'If you can't destroy the message, you destroy the messenger,' ... and I think this is a personal attack designed to cast aspersions on his character and reputation," Mr. Staver said

Apparently, the fact that the judges of Florida's 11th Judicial Circuit already did far more to ruin his reputation than a liberal conspiracy ever could is lost on this guy:
Dr. Rekers' testimony was far from a neutral and unbiased recitation of the relevant scientific evidence. Dr. Rekers' beliefs are motivated by his strong ideological and theological convictions that are not consistent with the science. Based on his testimony and demeanor at trial, the court can not consider his testimony to be credible nor worthy of forming the basis of public policy.

It seems this attorney has a basic misunderstanding of defamation. Nobody has said anything false, so far, about the publicly known facts, which are only known because Lucien himself has put them forward. Rekers has not said once that Lucien is lying.
What is more interesting to me is how such a plot could be effectively pulled off. I'm a straight man, albeit not very intelligent. But even a moron such as I wouldn't need a degree from M.I.T to figure out what is going on at a site called RENTBOY.COM. LOL...RENT BOY! HELLLOOOOOOOO!
I'd also happen to be a bit surprised to find a young and sultry gay man carrying my luggage and giving me daily massages. Be kinda difficult for me to end up in that situation even if Mossad were plotting it. Now...Scarlett Johansson....
