Not that I have much tin foil available, nor am I keen on it as hat material, but sitting here tonight, something struck me...
In Summer of 2001, GWB was having miserable poll performance and eventually headed off to the "Western White House" (pig farm) for some R&R...meanwhile, despite a PDB warning of imminent attack (ok, I know it wouldn't have been news, then , but), the dominating story of the summer media was Shark Attacks.
Not being one spot coincidence and immediately presume broader implications, I have noticed the Shark Count is going up again...MSNBC has the current attack on their headlines page, with links to the past stories .
Hrm... When is Dubya next scheduled to go to Texas?
Update [2005-7-2 13:39:50 by JD SoOR]: Just to note that as of 7-01, yet another shark attack in Florida merits a slot in the 5 stories topping the MSNBC headlines, and that by 7-02, while it had slipped from that status, it was still frontpaging under the Newsweek content, about midway down the page.
Shark attacks - a top six story while Iraq, Afghanistan, SCOTUS resignation, Bolton, budget and debt woes, etc... are all happening? right.
