Here's the latest article to speculate on whether AFSCME will second the SEIU's endorsement of Dean:

The options are Dean, Clark, and Gephardt.
The CNN article mentions that AFSCME is going to base its endorsement on electability. Right after Clark announced he was running, it seemed to me that "electability" was the codeword for anti-Dean. But now, AFSCME is defining electable by ability to fundraise and a campaign strategy that goes through Nov '04. It would seem Dean has a really strong plan and has been the fundraising star.
But, the article also says the union has more comfort with Gephardt than with Dean, and also mentions the rivalry with SEIU.
