Idea for bored Deaniacs

Wed Nov 19, 2003 at 04:13:56 AM PDT

Mike S gave me an intriguing idea for something a bunch of lefty activists (e.g., Deaniacs) could do as a sort of activist project: crashing talk radio shows.

Think of it as a political denial of service attack.

Pick a particular episode of a particular show and rain it with phone calls directed at addressing some talking points.  Repeat until targetted talk radio shows start sounding like blogforamerica outlets.

I'm not sure if it's feasible for all shows (though it may be-- dunno how many calls Rush gets), but I'm sure Deaniacs could take over any local radio show they chose to, say in a swing state.  Since liberals have no talk radio shows to speak of, there would be NO COUNTERATTACK possible.

Whaddya think?  Does this idea have potential or is it inherently flawed/stupid/sophomoric/etc?  To me, it seems like a fair way to address the inherent rightward bias of mainstream media, and talk radio in particular.
