HERE HERE! Raise your glass for the woman that walked out of her imprisonment with leg wounds, not the child that was carried out by the elite special forces which found no resistance!

There's something to be said about our society that exalts the girl that had to be carried out on a streacher, yet forgets the name of the woman that walked out on her own. What does it say? Does it say that we see a woman's place as being one that requires strong men to save her? Is this what we're encouraging our daughters to be? "Just think Chrissy when you grow up you can be a damsel in distress too." Blegh! You want to exault someone exalt Shoshanna!

-- "Yeah, well, that's just, like, your opinion, man."

I agree. The "hero-ification" (is that a word?) of Jessica is unfair to her fellow soldiers who were caught in the same mission. Lorie Piestawa got a Peak named after her (for being the first native american women killed in war), but Shoshana gets nothing. Wrong.

Why do you guys hate america??

Yes, let's raise a toast to Shoshanna, but I don't think it's fair to do so at the expense of Jessica. It's certainly not fair to lay the blame at her feet.

The fault lies way farther up the food chain. If Pvt. Johnson has been screwed (which she has), it's not Pvt. Lynch's fault, because she didn't ask for quasi-deification, and she certainly doesn't have the power to make things better for Johnson.

To get all riled up about The Jessica Lynch Story just lets the real bastards off the hook.

that is why i wrote i have to STRESS that this is meant in NO WAY disrespectfully to jessica lynch THE PERSON.

or to be honest jessica lynch THE PROPAGANDA.

when i say "jessica lynch", i DO NOT MEAN jessica lynch THE PERSON. I mean the pentagon/media propaganda PR-machine.

just like when i say "florida", i don't mean florida THE PLACE, i mean the stolen elections of 2000.

Let us also not forget PFC. Lori Piestewa, killed in the encounter where PFC Lynch and Spc Johnson were taken prisoner.

It seems I can hear God say to America, "You are too arrogant, and if you don't change your ways, I'll break the backbone of your power."
