The
National Journal polls 50 Democratic "insiders" each week on who they think will win the nomination. Here are this week's numbers, with last week's in parentheses:
Dean 46 (40)
Gephardt 0 (5)
Clark 2 (3)
Edwards 2 (2)
Others 0 (0)
Nobody thinks Gephardt will win. That's embarrassing, since among the "insiders" polled are Gephardt Media Consultant Bill Carrick, Gephardt endorser James Clyburn (D-SC), Gephardt endorser Vic Fazio (D-CA), and Gephardt endorser Bob Matsui (D-CA).
Among those who think Lieberman won't win are Lieberman Campaign Manager Tom Nides and Lieberman endorser Rosa DeLauro (D-CT).
Among those who think Kerry won't win are Kerry Campaign Strategist Ted Devine and Kerry pollster Mark Mellman.
Among those who think Sharpton won't win are Sharpton adviser Bill Lynch.
So, who's going to ask Lieberman, "Your own campaign manager doesn't think you'll win. So why are you still in the race?"
