An introduction and information about Paul Babbitt who is running against Republican Rick Renzi for Arizona's District 1 House seat.
"What rural Arizona needs is a representative from rural Arizona. What America needs is a restoration of balance in Washington. And what we've lost in their absence is obvious. We have more sulfur in our air, and fewer protections for our workers. We have skyrocketing budget deficits, and a crippling federal debt. And, of course, we have the war in Iraq and no plan to pay for it, even as so many of our domestic priorities go unmet. We can do better, and we must."

Let's Take Congress Back! We mustn't stop at putting a Democrat in the White House. A Democratic President will need a Democratic Congress.
Our best chance in Arizona to redress the balance and recapture a Congressional seat is District 1, where Democrat Paul Babbitt is running against Republican Rick Renzi, who votes with Tom DeLay and the GOP leadership on nearly every vote.
This race is widely considered one of the most competitive in the nation and wonderful opportunity for Democrats to pick up another seat. Luckily, we have a wonderful candidate ready to do the job.
Paul Babbitt is an Arizona native and has served on the Coconino Board of Supervisors for the past 16 years. Previously, Paul was the mayor of Flagstaff and a member of the Flagstaff City Council. Paul is an Army veteran, and served as Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army, helping the military and Arizona's civilian communities work together. Paul lives in Flagstaff with his wife, Mary and his children, Marney and Paul.

Paul shares our priorities and values. On the ballooning deficit, irresponsible tax cuts for the wealthy, the healthcare crisis, protecting public education for our children and Social Security and Medicare for our seniors, and putting our money where our mouths are in fulfilling our promises to our veterans, Paul will be the voice of Arizona's people.
We can help put Paul in Congress with grassroots activism and fundraising. Please come to his Meetups in Tucson, Phoenix, and Flagstaff on March 2, 2004. or start a Meetup for Paul in your own community. Please learn more about Paul's vision for representing Arizonans and providing leadership in Congress, and then help us to put this inspiring public servant, who has devoted his life to Arizona's communities and Democratic values, in Congress.

Please bring your checkbook with you to Meetup and donate, if your are able; Renzi is raising large amounts of money from special interests and GOP leadership PACs, and Paul needs our help to catch up.
If you cannot make it to Meetup, but would still like to stay in the loop and discuss Paul's campaign, please join Paul's Yahoo group or sign up for news bulletins from the campaign from Paul's campaign website.
Paul's website also accepts credit card donations. Please, donate $10, $25, $35, $50, or whatever you can afford, to help Paul create a more Democratic Congress for all of us.
