Yesterday it was
education. Hmm... let's see, it looks like something like 80% of us have at least a bachelor's degree. Once again, out of the mainstream are we. Not only that, but around 40% of us have graduate degrees and 11% have PhDs--well that probably explains the bumps in the income poll as well...
But first a little about methodology.
Every so often there is griping that "my category wasn't included" or "why do you assume we're like X?" One issue is that there are only 10 blanks to work with, so I use my editorial powers to determine what choices are offered. If I think there will be fewer people in a certain category, I'll make it broader. For example, I assume Kossaks skew young, so if I were doing an age survey, I'd make finer distinctions in the 20s and 30s, but probably have a large category for those over 60. If I were polling the AARP website, I'd do it the opposite way. That doesn't mean that I don't want to be surprised! If there is an unexpected bump in the numbers, it's always fun to explore that.
On to today's poll.
Definition of child is any biological or adopted child whether said child lives with you full time or not as long as you have or had some role in the child's parenting. Step children can be included at your discretion, but I'd prefer they be included only if you have a significant role in the parenting.
