One of our tech analysts has a daughter stationed in Baghdad and frequently posts her emails up for the lab to read. I was wondering by her cube today and saw she had a new letter up from her daughter. I stopped in for a read.
The girl is handling her responsibilities as a "medvac" (or something) as well as she can, as far as I can tell. In a meeting yesterday I over heard her mother grievingly looking down at her lap while telling her friend, `my baby is seeing stuff she shouldn't be seeing... no one should be seeing' I have copied the letter below.
Hey mom Not much new here. I had a ma run from our fraont gates though. They found him buried in a shallow grave alongside the road somewhere in Abu Ghariab. They think he might have been airforce. He only had on his boxers and one sock. He was still blindfolded with hands behind back. He was killed execution style and by the looks of the body has been tortured badly. It is sad that people can do that to another human being. Yoshiba is like a noodle thing with some meat and peppers and i don't really know it is not too bad though. I had white rice, broccli, carrots, and a south african pear. There is not too much variety o yeah i had baked beans again. I have lost 12 lbs according to the scale we used to weigh in a couple of days ago. You will have to see what you think from the pics. I sweat a lot here. It is getting hot here. They are trying to the the ac fixed but not sure when that is going to happen. Hopefully soon. Well talk to ya later. Love abby
She didn't do this run, she has told her mother she doesn't like talking about the runs she does, but she is regularly involved in retrieving the dead and wounded. I believe she is 19 and already she can jump from a mutilated comrade to the food she ate the day before. Innocence lost, I guess.
