We memorialize the great Presidents to preserve the memory of their greatness. We should memorialize Bush's absolute failure as President as warning to future generations.
If you could commission a monument to Bush's tragic (hopefully) single term as President, what would it look like? Be creative. We want lots of people to be able to see it regularly, so maybe a statue or installation on the Mall isn't automatically the thing to do. How do we best communicate our complete contempt for W with permanence, ubitquity, clarity, and artistic merit?
A few of the best suggestions from the last diary entry:
- Replica of Saddam statute that was pulled down in Baghdad, only with Bush's face on it in a visible position.
- A deep dark hole in the middle of a defoliated field. With an automated shovel endlessly digging. No lights except on the shovel. Possibly engraved in the shovel handle: hubris
- A life-size replica of the Statue of Liberty, but with the torch extinguished and a gag over her mouth. Fear in her eyes.
- Permanent removal of the letter "W" from the alphabet.
- A lifesize bronze statue of a sneering Cheney seated with little Bozo (in a clown suit) on his knee.
After I get some more ideas, I'll have a poll to narrow down the choices. Note that this is just for fun at this point, there is no funding for such a project: that's what your ideas are meant to secure.
