Clinton was on David Letterman last night, and it made me nastalgic for him as a president. The guy is wellspoken, and I noticed that he actually thought about what he was saying. One example is that David Letterman asked him two questions, the first being something like, "Are you scared about living in NY and being under an orange alert?" while the second one was something that required a lot more thought and discussion, which he got into with Letterman for a while without answering the first. Then, right before the commercial break, Clinton said, "and now to answer your first question, no." and then proceeded to give him a brief explanation. I know that doesn't seem like much, but the fact is that Captain ADD, I mean Bush, wouldn't be capable of answering the question that is in his mind at the moment, much less remembering to answer the previous one. It's amazing to me that anyone still supports this guy with everything that has gone wrong in our nation and how stupid he comes across when he talks. When Kerry says, "we can do better" I think he really means it.
In other news, the fight over politics is getting more vicious. There is a religious website that I am active on where I got temporarily banned from their political forum after responding to a guy that insulted my wife. The reason he did that is because I said the best way to combat fear is to be more social and start talking to your neighbors and live more of a public life so you can know what is going on in the world. Really, there's no way to take an insult from that. However, he did, and he insulted my wife, so I insulted his entire family from his parents to his children. I expect that the overall tone is going to get worse, and I wouldn't be suprised if hate crimes were to occur on behalf of the Republicans in the coming months, possibly even terrorist attacks by conservative groups. Timothy McVeigh was a conservative, after all, and there has been plenty of discussion lately of the U.S. government ignoring American terrorist groups, even if they collaborate with al Qaeda.
As my wife says, "Expect the worst, but hope for the best." I say, "If they fuck with you, beat their fucking asses."
