They had a short 60-second spot showing him accepting the nom. He says he accepted the nomination "to combat Barack Obama's views on abortion". At the press conference people greeted him enthusiastically. He seems well-regarded within the party as the dotty-old uncle.
ABC mentioned the Hilary comment from four years ago, but there was no direct comment by anyone at the press conference itself. It's unclear whether he just read a prepared statement or whether he actually entertained questions.
Also did a feature on George McGovern who's got a new book out extolling the values of liberalism. He mentioned the 1972 Election and how He may have made the mistake of not mentioning his two years of flying bombers in WWII during his campaign. He mentioned how a young John Kerry, who worked on his campaign, learned from his mistakes.
