The latest of Howard Dean's syndicated columns is available
here.
He tackles the issue of the crisis in Sudan. However, the tactic he takes is an interesting one. Rather than calling out the Bush administration for nonaction, or talking about the American response, he points out that the world community has also been sitting around ineffectively. He is basically saying that until Europe and the UN step up to the plate to deal with world crises, the possibility of U.S. unilateralism is that much greater (presumably because there is a vacuum that would need filling). It's an interesting argument, combining legitimate points with a little good old fashioned Europe and UN bashing--ie calling it as he sees it--not what you'd expect from the liberalest liberal ever. Not that Dean is that--if you've been paying attention.
