Even Fox news, in their post Cleland coverage is acknowledging that Cleland and the others are ACCUSING BUSH of orchestrating the swift boat ads. They spin out whether that is fact, and claim it is a controversial statement, but they ACTUALLY REPEATED IT.
The spin is weak, that the accusation is based on people with past associations to Bush being behind the ads, but not working for both at the same time.
The studio reporter on CNN was openly hostile that the Bushies are still trying to claim they are not responsible for the ads. He pressed the field reporter if she honestly believed that Bush's blanket statements against all 527 ads was a valid response to demands that specific lies be stopped. She fought had to say that it is a he said she said battle, but the studio correspondent, ( a young boy, I do not know) would not let her get away with the claims.
When even Fox acknowledges the real issue, even if they try to spin out from under it, that looks like a victory to me.
My apologies, it appears that Kerry and his people where right. And it appears that my belief that Kerry needed to make the response personally was not accurate. I was wrong.
