First off, I can't decide if it was good or bad that there was so little Kerry/Edwards paraphanelia at the march. I half expected to be marching up 7th ave chanting "Kerry/Edwards" in joyous call and response but it was all anti-Bush (and fox news). There wasn't none - but I feel like Nader/Camejo and "f7ck bush, f7ck Kerry, revolution is necessary" camps were more organized and visible. I'm not talking about the arrests - they were all peaceful, I'm just talking about visibility relative to K/E.
I'd think it was a bad sign that there wasn't much K/E enthusiasm, but part of me doesn't want them associated with some of the nonsense that was piggybacking onto the anti-bush sentiment (Confidential to the old hippies dancing and chanting "Don't be scared, peace has been declared": umm, what are you talking about? this is kind of a somber march - there's thousands of people dying and we might lose the election if we don't get the vote out)
Anyway, I got into an argument with some Nader kids chanting "John Kerry voted for George Bush's war". I pointed out that he hadn't and that there was no vote for or against the war. If Kerry was president we'd want him to have the authority to go into Iraq if necessary - and we'd rightfully expect him not to have done it like W did. My favorite line was when the kid said "You're talking semantics while people are dying", and I said "and you're chaning and lying like a Swift Boat Veteran" (of course, the SBV is capitalized because I'm not talking about swift boat veterans in general)
anyway, we need more enthusiasm out there for the ticket. Go Johnny go.
