A week after Newsweek's poll showed Bush over Kerry 54-43, their 2-way race is now 50-45 (among registered voters; no data given for likely voters).

The bad news is that Kerry trails in the swing states 53-41, but the sample size on that is so small (apparently 270 respondents), that we shouldn't get too concerned. The data lists 391 respondents as being Republicans, 300 as being Democrats, and 270 as being Independents. That's probably a mistake as those same numbers are listed for respondents from Republican states, Democratic states, and swing states. By percentage, that would be 40.7% are from Republican states, 31.2% are from Democratic states, and 28.1% from swing states.
