Dean 41%
Sharpton 36%
CMB 12%
Kucinich 8%

Turnout 8% The one time DC statehood is a legitimate issue, and nobody shows up! Oh well... The Dean campaign will want to bury this, and turnout is a good excuse.

No mention of Vermin Supreme.

With 68% of the precincts reporting, Dean is at 42% and Shaprton at 35%. Huge swing of a whole two points there. :)
Given that Dean didn't really run, and skipped the DC debate...
Better a win than a loss....even a close win.

Dean wins DC (3.20 / 5)

Dean now holds the overall lead in votes cast during the Democratic primaries. I'll let everyone else anguish over the expectations game - no one expected Dean to pull 40% in DC just 3-4 months ago.
Clark, Gephardt, Lieberman, Kerry and Edwards are not just below the Braun line, but they are also below the Vermin line -- BY CHOICE.

With that kind of pathetic turnout where turnout was billed as the surrogate for support for statehood, I think DC Dems would want to bury the "primary", entirely apart from where any particular candidates finished.

DC Board of Elections and Ethics.
Frankly, I was hoping that this page would indicate which precincts had been counted so far. I would expect that Dean could pull away and still win a narrow majority if majority-white and/or upper-income precincts are left to be counted.
But until I get an indication of which precincts are left to go, nobody really can say.

    Dean at 28, Gep stagnant at 23, is what counts. And if what I hear is correct, the black community in DC has been significantly shafted by Sharpton, more so the actual object of his 2 weeks of slander, Howard.

with 87 percent of precincts reporting. No major shakeups.
It's now almost midnight in Washington.
