According to the website Politics1, John Kerry held a private meeting with Sen. John Breaux. It was their second meeting in recent months. This is the first I have heard of this. Breaux is retiring from the Senate this year and is from one of the very few states in the south, Louisiana, that has been considered a battleground. Yes he is a DLC guy, but so is that states other Senator, Mary Landrieu, and everyone on Kos is in loooove with her. I also distinctly remember Bush meeting with Breaux shortly after his selection as President in 2000, asking him to serve in his cabinet....I think it was for Energy Secretary. It was an effort for Bush to reach out across party lines. (Because as we all know he's a uniter, not a divider) That would play great in swing states.
Interesting side note...Breaux and Kerry are the same age. And while Kerry ran for the House in 72 at the tender age of 28 and lost, Breaux DID win election that year making him the youngest member in the Congress.
