Thanks to the split screen during the debate, the subtle differences between Kerry and Bush's image were clearly discernable. So it's hard not to suspect that Roger Ailes's Fox News camera crew had something to do with it: They're the ones who produced the two images.
- Bush was more brightly lit than Kerry.
- Bush's image was slightly larger than Kerry's, because the camera was in a bit tighter.
- Bush's image was raised several inches, making him as tall, or at times taller, than Kerry.
- There were small differences in tone, making Bush's face appear more lively and colorful than Kerry's; the backdrop color appeared a little different -- even though the same backdrop was behind both men.
Did anyone else notice these subtle differences? I had the luxury of watching the debate with some great fellow volunteers, many of whom noticed the same things I did.
Did anyone else observe these differences, and suspect that the Fox boys were trying to make George look just a smidgen more commanding and lively?
