As reported by the Washington Times, Bush will be giving a "Mulligan" Speech to make up for his lousy performance in the debate on national security Thursday night.
First off, we should push the meme that Bush is giving a "Mulligan" Speech, i.e., he's admitting that he lost the debate and he wants a "do over."
Next, Kerry should strongly consider having a press conference afterwards to respond to Bush's "Mulligan" Speech.
Let's guess what Bush might say in his "Mulligan" Speech and propose appropriate Kerry responses.
1. Bush: "Kerry is dangerous for world peace. He even opposed the Gulf War."
Kerry: "After the Gulf War, George Bush's father said that going into Baghdad was a mistake. Father knew best. Even Dick Cheney agreed. George W. Bush went to war with Iraq anyway. And George W. Bush could not and did not build the type of coalition that his father built for the Gulf War."
2. Bush: "Kerry would require global approval for any pre-emptive action. I would never take a global "poll" before acting to protect the United States."
Kerry: "As President, I, like all Presidents before me, will have the right for pre-emptive action to protect the United States. And I will use pre-emptive action when necessary. After we've taken pre-emptive action, to legitimize our pre-emptive action, we should show the world that we were right. George Bush did not convince the world that we were right. Now, the world does not trust George Bush."
3. Bush: "The economy is improving because of my tax cuts. Kerry would reverse my tax cuts and destroy the economy."
Kerry: "I support tax cuts for the middle class and for small and large businesses. My tax cuts will improve the economy for everyone, and in particular, middle class Americans. Mr. Bush's tax cuts were targeted tax give-aways to his biggest supporters, only the wealthiest of Americans. Now, we have a huge budget deficit and the economy is struggling to create enough good paying jobs."
