I did it!! I won!!!

My husband has been a political source of frustration for me. He listens to talk radio and absorbs some of their stupid talking points. He mostly votes for Republicans.

Last night we watched the debate. I asked him who won. He said "They are both good debaters." I wanted to scream!

Flash forward to today. I just got home and he announced that he was going to go vote (he travels a lot and can't be guaranteed to be home on election day). I asked him who he was going to voted for. He said "Ronald Reagan." I said "You are going to vote for Bush aren't you." He wouldn't say. So then I started joking, "Well, if you're going to vote for Reagan, why not vote for John Kennedy, he's been gone from this earth longer." Finally, he admitted that he was just pissed off enough to vote now. He said that things are just going in the wrong direction in this country. I then looked at him and said "You're voting for Kerry, aren't you?" He just looked at me and smiled.

Apparently, John Kerry's debate performance last night convinced my husband to vote for him even though he isn't voting on foreign policy-he is voting on economic policy. I think the fact that Kerry didn't look like the stupid weasel that Bush and talk radio have portrayed him as convinced my husband to vote for him.

  The swing voters saw Kerry as strong, Bush as pouty and petulant and completely unwilling to realize Iraq was a mistake.
