International Republican Institute says polls show Karzai is
43% ahead of everyone else, and wins with more than 50%, and doesn't need a 2nd round to win.
Yeah, the IRI is described as "non-profit". You know, the same Institute who basically tries to illegally overthrow legally and fairly elected Venezuelan president Huge Chavez. That Institute which has "Republican" in its name, because it's just a front for Norquist, the neo-cons and all the other toxic criminal bunch we all know so well here around. I still wonder what the heck "closely tied to the Republican Party but not directly affiliated with it" exactly means. Whatever, it's clear that their 13 observators can assure the full process was fair, and that their polls are accurate and reflect the opinion of the Afghan people at large.
My bet is they'll try the same shit with Iraq next January. Except the Sunnis and the Sadrists won't be quiet after that. Of course, we haven't the real reaction on the ground of the various Afghan warlors, like Dostum and Khan, and I wouldn't rule out moves towards full autonomy or civil war.
