The wiki has been a great resource for organizing our efforts and documenting their success, but today it showed its weakness as a tool of activism.
(much more after the bump)
Yesterday, I posted an advertiser response on the dkosopedia SBG page created for this purpose here:
http://www.dkosopedia.com/index.php/Sinclair_Broadcast_Group
The response was via email from Charlie's Car Dealerships and read in part as follows:
STOP SUPPORTING THE PLAYBOY CHANNEL............... YOU SEE MIS-INFORMATION HURTS DOESN'T IT. PLEASE DON'T INVOLVE US IN YOUR SCHEMES AND SCAMS WE HAVE NOT BEEN ON CHANNEL 13 SINCE JULY 27TH. YOU SEE [name removed], THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT THIS WHOLE SHOW IS ABOUT WASTING PEOPLES TIME AND MONEY. PERHAPS YOU SHOULD JUST STICK TO FOX TV AND WATCH THE SOX BLOW IT AGAIN..
I posted this response along with a note that confirmed that Charlie's does indeed still advertise with WGME and that their print advertisement can be viewed online in the "WGME shopper" flier here.
A few hours later, the response was gone from the wiki. Someone had deleted it and replaced it with a block of text that mentioned the great deals on cars currently available at Charlie's.
I have replaced the original text several times. Each time it has been modified by a user named Mroddy.
The page history is available here.
Now, Mroddy has gone a step further and erased the entire page, including all of the information that dozens of DKos members had worked to gather about the Sinclair corporation.
This guy has more free time than I do, so I can't just keep reinstituting the original version. Does anyone have any suggestions for how we can fix this flaw in what could be one of the most important activist tools we have?
