Bush don't need no stinkin press conferences!

I may be "preaching to the choir" here, but how sad is it that this:

Bush Pays Rare Visit to Air Force One Press Cabin

warrants an AP story? How isolated and secretive does a president have to be before people say "enough"? I know I'm sick of it.

Al Franken has this undecided guy from NC that calls in from time to time. (I forget his name, but he's got a great voice.) Yesterday, he was sending in his absentee ballot and essentially confirmed that he was voting for Kerry. Why? Because he feels that, while the major issues are obviously important to him, he felt the POTUS should not be:

  • requiring people to sign oaths of loyalty
  • kicking people out of events for having opposing signs, t-shirts or pins
  • generally closing out the public

I know there is no way to measure it, but I get the real sense that there are a lot of people out there that feel the same way.
