When the real world makes me crazy, I do astrology for fun... don't much believe in it, but I like it.
We are all working to get Kerry elected, but at this point the watching and waiting is getting to a lot of people. Superstition can be comforting when you don't have all the control you would like. So maybe people would like to know that the stars say... Kerry.
Also, I've seen so much speculation on what the hell is wrong with Bush that I thought I'd throw out what his horoscope says is wrong with him. It's as likely to be true as half the rumors. More below.
George Bush is going through his second Saturn return this month, when Saturn returns to its original natal position. It happens every 29 years (ish), at about the same age for everyone, when you are 28-29 and again in your late fifties.
It's a big crisis period, a time when one period of your life is ending and another beginning. Crucially, it is much harder to deal with when you have been on the wrong track. It's a time when you face the consequences of your actions, and realize that the die is already cast... what determines what happens to you now is what you have already done, it's too late to fix it or change it. If you've dealt with challenges well over your life, it's a time of looking back on your accomplishments and then moving on, deciding what to do next. If not, well, then it's a time when unhappy marriages finally break up, you are forced into ignominious early retirement, your children turn their backs on you to live their own lives, and you are left regretting what you could have done with your life but didn't. You get the picture.
In Bush's chart, this is all happening as a number of planets are moving across the cusp of his fourth house, touching a lot of sore spots in his chart and bringing up childhood issues. Others have made the suggestion that when Scowcroft made his recent statements against the administration, he was speaking for Bush, Sr. or at least with his approval. That kind of rejection from Daddy would seriously hurt Dubya right now, and it's a transit under which it would be more likely than at other times.
A third thing in Bush's chart... he's coming out of a Neptune transit that for the past few years has made him very susceptible to being deceived, being used, and getting sucked into false realities to the point of being delusional. He's moving out of this transit and may be "waking up" from a time of believing in fantasies and understanding he's been taken in.
Kerry's chart is lovely right now. One reason he may be known as a good closer in campaigns is that October is a great time of year for him. All those planets giving Bush trouble in his 4th house have been marching one by one across Kerry's midheaven into his 10th house, making very nice aspects with his natal sun and other planets, and putting him in the best possible light in the eye of the public.
This past week, Jupiter moved into the 10th house. This is a big transit, and usually marks a high point in a person's career, like a major promotion. Jupiter is in the opposite position in Bush's chart, indicating a possible loss of job or status. Put positively, he may have an opportunity to spend a lot more time with his family in the coming years. What's problematic for us in Jupiters position in Bush's chart is that it makes lawsuits surrounding the election highly likely.
The defining moment of a person's public life often comes when Saturn crosses the midheaven into the 10th house, and it can be good or bad. It can be the high point of a career, or a moment of public disgrace -- Nixon resigned under this transit. For Bush, Saturn crossed the midheaven in 2001. For Kerry it will next happen in 2010, about halfway through his second term should we be so graced.
For most of his first term, Saturn's position in the 8th indicates that among the biggest challenges he will face will be getting the budget deficit under control, and dealing with conflicting values about where limited resources will be put. I don't know if astrologers have agreed about what house represents terrorism in a chart, but the 8th would be a good guess. He may also have some issues with his wife, but that's none of our business.
Anyway, starz say... Kerry will win and Bush is on the verge of psychological collapse. So feel better.
