You might want to post this in the new open thread.  It's brand spanking new.

I liked what THK said.  She sounds like a fascinating woman.

What good does rating this do?

When I click on the Most Popular link I am given a page that I guess has the most popular articles.

In fact there are three type of most popular:

    1. Most Emailed
    2. Most Viewed
    3. Highest Rated

    4. Now the default (and hence the most important) "Popular" page is the Most Emailed.

I am thinking that our rating the article has no effect on whether the article will appear on the Most Emailed page.

    1. The Most Viewed page.  My guess is that the more we go to this page the more the article will appear on it.  So for that reason we might not want to go to it.

    2. The Highest Rated page.  My guess is that rating the article does will help to take it off this page.

So, I am thinking that 2 & 3 nullify each other.  Maybe not.  I know that I go to the Most Viewed page more often so maybe it is better that we don't go to the article at all.  On the other hand, so many people view these articles anyway and don't rate them at all, maybe we are having a negligble effect on the Most Viewed page, and we should go ahead and rate it down on the Highest Rating page.

So, in summation, I don't know.

    •  Actually, probably the best thing to do is ... (none / 0)

click on all of the other news and email them.  (There is an email link on each article)

But that is a lot of work.

Or maybe we could just pick one in particular and email it a lot.

      Or maybe not.

our going to this page should be cancelled out by us going to all the other pages (there's a freep yahoo diary right now) so the difference is the ratings

Laura Bush accepted the apology.  End of story.  Any Rethug who uses this now can be told of Laura's comments.
