Given Pat Robertsons recent Bush quotes, we know a retraction is coming. Care to make it interesting?
ROBERTSON: I met with him down in Nashville before the Gulf War started. And he was the most self-assured man I ever met in my life.
You remember, Mark Twain said, he looks like a contended Christian with four aces. He was just sitting there, like, I'm on top of the world, and I warned him about this war. I had deep misgivings about this war, deep misgivings. And I was trying to say, Mr. President, you better prepare the American people for casualties.
Oh, no, we're not going to have any casualties. Well, I said, it's the way it's going to be. And so, it was messy. The lord told me it was going to be, A, a disaster and, B, messy. And before that, I had deep, in my spirit, I had deep misgivings about going into Iraq.
Now, this claims that Bush was deluded about Iraq, and worse still that Bush may not have had as direct a line to god as Robertson. Obviously, this is something pious George cannot tolerate; Robertson is gonna have to retract this sucker.
So, here's what I'm proposing. Everyone stake out 1/2 hour increments and declares a favorite Dem candidate or PAC, whoever gets closest to the time of Robertsons retraction statement wins the pool and we all have to donate a minimum of $10 to that persons stated cause. Look over the thread to try and prevent ties; if one occurs anyway losers get to pick which of the tied causes they like best and donate to that. Obviously, everyone is on their honor to do so.
I'll take 3:30 today (10/20/2004), and I will support ACT!
