A short diary, and I will probably post something like this again next week. Another reminder if you will. More below.
My basic point is is that if you live in a supposedly "safe" state (for either candidate), I would strongly advise you to cast your ballot for Kerry/Edwards, primarily for one reason. While it is always possible that some kind of "surprising" outcome could occur, more important is that your vote in, say, California, New York, or Texas, will contribute to Kerry/Edwards's
national popular vote total. I think it would be very damaging to Kerry if he were to win the electoral college but lose the popular vote, which is not out of the realm of possibility. And don't think for a second such an outcome will stop the wingnuts from going berserk. They are a bunch of first-class hypocrites when they want to be. His ability to govern will be made
immensely more difficult were this to be the case. So, if you support Kerry, vote Kerry, no matter where you live. Kerry needs to win not just "technically," but his victory needs to be a demonstration of the popular will as well.
