Okay folks, this is life or death. No kidding.

A friend of mine's little sister is getting deployed to Iraq. And she's going to need armor.

Unfortunately, as we all know, this President has left us a little short of armor for the time being. And, thanks to Bush's economic policies, my friend is dead-ass broke. But we can do something to maybe save this kids's life.

Please go to Amanda's Armor and make a donation. The goal is to raise $1740 for the best stuff available: EnGarde Cougar armor with two Level IV ceramic inserts. That shit will stop an armor-piercing bullet from a 30-06, let alone an AK-47 or AR-15.

For more information, please go to the extended copy box.

Update The link to Amanda's Armor is fixed.

So let's go over some quick Q and A.

Q: How do I know this isn't a scam?

A: You don't; you have to trust me to vouch for my friend's integrity. But, if it turns out that I am scamming you, you can kick my ass. And you can trust me that, if my friend should be scamming me, I'm going to kick her ass.

Q: Isn't this spam?

A: Probably, but it's not mentioned in the four rules, so I'm going with it. If Kos or another lord-high-muckity-muck tells me to take it down, I'll do it. My goal here is to reach a broad and interested audience, because, to be frank, we've got to raise a hell of a lot of money.

Q: Can't you wait until after campaign season?

A: Sure I can, and I'll even agree that the best way to protect this girl would be to give her a commander-in-chief that isn't a complete asshole. But regardless of who's calling the shots, I want her to have armor.

Q: Wait a second. Tom DeLay says we're raising money for insurgents. You're raising money for a US soldier. I'm confused.

A: Maybe you should point the Exterminator this way. I don't even care what finger you use to do it.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
