Remember the badly flawed felon list scrapped by state election officials? Those GOP sumbitches will stop at nothing to win, it seems. From today's
Sarasota Herald-Tribune:
GOP may wield felon purge list
State party officials consider using the lsit to challenge felons who attempt to vote Tuesday
More below the fold...
The original purge list, created by the Florida Department of State, was dropped because of a data glitch excluding Hispanics, who tend to vote Republican, while including thousands of blacks, who more often vote Democratic [...]
If Republicans use the list to challenge felons who attempt to vote, that could cost the Democrats thousands of votes and might decide the election, which is expected to be close.
According to the story, the R's have sent the list to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement in the hopes that they would enforce the law. They are waiting for a response before deciding how to proceed.
The method for challenging voters at the polling stations was detailed in my diary. Briefly, under Florida Statue 101.111, a poll watcher may issue a challenge to a voter, which would require the observer and the challenged voter to exchange affadavits, then voting at the polling place would SHUT DOWN while the poll workers present meet to vote on whether or not the person can vote!
Needless to say, if the GOP moves forward with using these lists, the shit will certainly hit the fan on Election Day.
