OK - This is it. Crunch time. Get Out The Vote. Stop typing. GOTV. Stop watching the pundits. GOTV. Stop parsing the polls. GOTV. Stop worrying about how Osama is playing in Peoria. GOTV. GOTV. GOTV.

It now depends on our efforts. If you're not going to OH, PA, FL, or WV, come to Virginia and switch 13 EVs from Red to Blue. The VA ground game is in full swing, well-organized, and can always use two more hands.

This coming weekend and Monday priority tasks include canvassing, phonebanking and visibility.  Election Day - doorknocking, poll work, and phonebanking. More details on , or call the Clarendon (703-248-9330), Alexandria (703-549-3367), or Fairfax (703-207-2004) offices to volunteer.

Remember. We've come VERY far here in VA.  Now it's time to finish the play. Think how good it will feel to watch the incredulous faces of the mediaheads early Tuesday as they realize that they have just called Virginia for Kerry...

Do you want to be part of the first upset of Election night? Then: Cross a bridge. Bring a friend. We WILL win this thing.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

  •  Will be doing just that (none)
I live here in Va. and we are having a rally this afternoon in Reston, and then giong door to door, doing lots of visibility stuff.  It's well organized thru election day, people are very motivated.  I woke up sick with anxiety this morning about this election, the only cure......GOTV!!!!!
  •  I keep hearing that VA is solidly BushCo territory (none)
... and of course that stops me from voting for JK not at all.

I guess I am wondering how they can just say "Well, in VA, the electoral votes will go for Bush" and it sounds like it just negates the rest of our votes - as if it's a done deal. Am I making sense?

I understand the point of the Electoral College but it just sounds wonky - like, why even show up?

Although I am going to vote come hell or water high! :)

    •  VA is FAR from solid for Bush (none)
Where do you keep hearing that VA is solidly Bush?  The polls certainly aren't saying that.  Though the last Mason Dixon poll showed Bush 6 points ahead of Kerry, every other major poll done in the last six weeks has shown Kerry within or very close to the margin of error, if not tied.  Democrats have the biggest official ground operation in decades in Virginia, and grassroots organizations like Virginia Grassroots Coalition are filling in the gaps.

Just going to vote is barely enough.  We have tons of ground to cover with canvassing and phone banking this weekend - pitch in and make a difference!!!

    •  We need 85% (none)
If the 8th district in Va brings 85% to the polls....Virginia turns Blue!  GOTV virginia!  People here are really motivated for a Kerry win.
  •  Well ... (none)
... I keep seeing a roundup of swing states vs. states that are already committed for one candidate or the other.

Just from my cursory reading on this, it gives the appearance that it's a done deal.

Thank you, though, for giving me a better picture about it.  (More reading is apparently needed on my part)

How does one volunteer to work a polling center or at least just go and hang around? I have to be at work at 10 but I would be willing to do something (Im not good at calling, though).
