It seems like the issue of voter fraud is always in the background here and at BFA, but never seems to rise as the top issue.
Just one day before the election kos posted, "We need paper trails!". Good idea, bad timing. Even as Dean was peaking, this theme would come and go but always be over taken with the issue of the day, the war, the economy and so on. If we just got this one issue right, then we'd win! Sound familiar? Now the issue is morality, or religion. We didn't get that one right, let's focus on it for next time...
The fact is, what do these issues matter if our votes can be thrown out wholesale. This has nothing to do with Diebold per say, this can be done with any scanned voting machine, any computer, so long as the votes are transported, there is potential for wholesale dumping of votes. We've seen willingness of Republicans to surpress votes. Why is it so hard to believe that this election was stolen? Why does anyone think it is a good idea to focus on an issue or candidate, when there is every indication that the same thing can and will happen again?
Blackboxvoting.org should, I believe, be the focus of our efforts and donations until we make progress in this effort. They recommend using the French style of voting and vote counting. Paper ballots that are PUBLICLY COUNTED ON THE SPOT. This last part is the critical piece, each vote can be reviewed by community members before they are reported. In the French system, since votes are tallied locally, the counting is also very fast. A win win, and as an added plus, no one can say they don't have a budget for some fancy equipment.
This will be my focus from now on, and I believe that this is a non-partisan issue that should unite all Freedom loving Americans.
