Down here in Tallahassee, FL, the mood is very sobering. Someone I know at work filled me in on some things that she heard and saw, and let me give you the low down.
Everyone seems to be on edge, and the mood is mysteriously quiet. People seem to be huddled into little groups, looking over their shoulder with looks of concern.
A couple people felt that we should have all worn black to work today - that's the level of emotion that is being felt from those that voted for Kerry.
One person, whose mother is a professor, was clearly holding back tears as he expressed his utter disappointment with the election results, and wonders what to do now.
Quiet, consuming anger is widespread among Kerry supporters, angry at how this country got hijacked once again, and fearful of what the world will now do to us thanks to this dreadful reelection.
But, for those that supported Bush, a scary insight into their minds was noticed today. We should all take this very seriously - we can't brush it off, for these are the people that brought the victory home to Bush.
Apparently my friend mentioned that she voted for Kerry and laid out why she did, and this Bush supporter said, paraphrased, "Oh but you see that was never going to happen. That's not what the scripture entailed. The Book of Revelations indicates that this had to happen this way." And then it got wild - "what is supposed to happen is that in 2008, the antichrist is supposed to come into power, and it will be Hillary Clinton." I'm not making this up guys.
There are people who believe this, and that's why they voted for Bush without even thinking. We are going to have to figure a way to channel their minds to our side if we want any shot at taking back this country. We can no longer shun them off - that attitude won them the election last night.
For anyone who wants to stay in this country, if they love it as much as I do, it's time to get active, and get active hard.
