I've read a lot of discussion that the first task facing the Reality Based Community is the definition and "framing" of a message. I understand that, as well as the need to cultivate suitable candidates.
However, I think there are two other important tasks that must precede that. The first one is the establishment of a truly uniform, unimpeachable system of voting. The second is to utilize the vast amount of entertainment talent within our ranks to produce a news station that would attract a mass audience.
We need to establish one method of voting, of allocating resources, of securing the integrity of the vote and of tabulating results. The only reason to oppose such a plan could be a desire to preserve confusion, thereby preserving the means of cheating. This seems to be a task that the Senate should undertake, and that no elected official could openly oppose.
Second we need a truly Liberal Media. News is entertainment now. The entertainment industry is an area where America still reigns supreme. It is also an industry staffed almost entirely with creative, left leaning individuals. Why can't these two come together? Employ our best and brightest to package, do sound design, do graphic design, etc. to bring forth entertaining, stimulating news from a liberal perspective. This would be an area for investment for those entertainment millionaires who tried so valiantly to help John Kerry succeed. People could tune in for the fun and stay for the education.
