I have been following the blog here intensely since Tuesday. I feel the same anger the member's here feel. While some of the diaries have touched on the provisional ballots, chads, absentee votes, electronic fraud etc, I hope to start a discussion on the bigger picture of voter fraud. I believe we as a society are at a critical juncture where the democratic principles our country was founded on can be either protected and embraced or thrown to the side for expediency and graciousness. We now have two presidential elections in a roll where the results are under suspicion. Not only does this discourage voters, but puts the legitimacy of our government into question. The preamble of the constitution starts with We the People. Not we who control the voting apparatus, or count the votes. Our democracy is based on the principle of self-determination. An element of that self-determination is to have fair and honest elections. Our electoral process is under attack and yet I see no outrage except on a few blogs.

This should be a giant story. People should be out in the streets angry. The media should be all over this. Yet nothing. Here we have two terms for a president whose election was suspicious and none of our representatives or senators question it. We couldn't even get our own candidate to wait till all the votes were counted before conceding. Is this banana republic democracy the best America can do today? The very integrity of our system of government is at stake.
