Major Update: PROTEST ENDS, GOP STILL CAN'T GET A CLUE
BOULDER, Colo. Students at Boulder High School in Colorado have ended an overnight protest.
About 85 students participated in a sit-in in the school library, expressing their concerns about the war in Iraq, the economy and environmental issues.
With the help of their adviser, the students negotiated with school administrators and agreed not to disrupt classes. They brought sleeping bags and enough food to last through the weekend.
One student organizer, Travis Moe, says they're too young to vote, but the issues surrounding the election affect them, too. They were hoping to meet with lawmakers from both parties, but only Democratic Congressman Mark Udall went to the school. He met with some students for about an hour after they left the library this morning.
A spokesman for Republican Governor Bill Owens said the best way for the students to practice democracy was to get back to class.

About 85 students remained holed up inside the library at Boulder High School early Friday, saying they're concerned about the direction the country is headed and refusing to leave until they've met with leaders from the Republican Party.
Some of the students involved in the protest, organized after President Bush won re-election to a second term on Tuesday, placed calls to Republican politicians and left messages.
"We want them to reassure us that our fears are misguided and that the government is doing everything in its power to prevent our futures from being destroyed," said senior Brian Martens.
The students said they were not protesting this week's election, but said they were worried about the huge national debt run up during the first four years of the Bush administration, along with military recruitment in schools and other issues.
