Howdy folks,
As everyone and his dog's mother -- including Cheney -- are offering their recollections of the Gipper, I figured I'd chip in.
Keeping in mind, of course, that the majority of my clientele are convinced that he and Nixon were two of the greatest presidents this Republic has ever known...And that Carter and Clinton were complete wastes of space and tissue.
As a child of the eighties, I remember how harsh life was growing up as a latchkey kid in a lower-middle-income household under Voodoo/Trickle Down (tm) economics -- not fun, that...I remember, as a child, going to my parents' gay friends' funerals, wondering why all these seemingly innocent guys that I cared for as only a child could were dying -- and I remember Ronny Ray-gun not saying boo about GRIDS or AIDS until his friend Rock bought the farm. That administration had it in their power to nip in the bud (or at least severely curb) one of the greatest threats to public health ever, and they utterly failed...I remember the courting of the religious right -- essentially stealing the Republican Party away from more sensibly minded folks...Worst of all, I remember "I can't recall," and realizing, even as a child, that he really couldn't; the man hadn't been there been there for decades...
I suppose the gods of vengeance may be satisfied: An ignominious legacy meets an equally ignominious end.
It's just too damn bad that no one seems to have the sense to see Dutch for what he obviously was.
Obviously a harsh segue from ghoulishness to hotness, but:
DailyKrush: Brad Delson is too sexy for his own bass guitar. Yes, screamo sucks...And I wish he did, too...
