I felt it my duty as a loyal Democrat to contact our new Senate leader. I urge you all to do the same. My recommendation for tone: polite and encouragaing. We don't yet know how he'll act; let's give him a chance and see.
Here is the link for his feedback form.
Letter takes me over the limit for this, so I put it all in extended copy rather than divide it...
Dear Mr. Reid,
Congratulations on your new position as Senate Minority Leader. I won't bother reminding you how monumental your new responsibilites are, since I'm sure you know already.
I feel somewhat bad using this, since I'm not a constiutent in the strictest sense of the world. I'm not a Nevadan. Rather, I am a Democrat. A Democrat who has proudly voted for Al Gore and John Kerry. Who now looks to your leadership to do what you can to stop the gathering host of right wing extremism.
I know we won't be able to win all battles. I ask nothing unreasonable. Really, all I ask is this: Fight. Always. Even if you can't win. Think outside the box. Do not be afraid to obstruct. Do what you can to regain ground in the media war, which is, I believe, our single greatest hindrance right now.
Finally, do not feel that you are alone. You have 44 other Senators, 200 members of the House, myself, and nearly 60 million Americans behind you. That's quite a team.
Thank you for all you have done and will do.
Cheers,
Rob
