I'm skeptical that Bush stole the election, as unhappy as I was about him winning. But I have heard enough speculations about opportunity, motive, and second-hand information. This info does not prove in a court of law that there is fraud.
I suggest that many of us are still in a state of denial over the lost election. I understand completly that there are still a lot of people unhappy over the results. I even heard about a man who travelled to Ground Zero and shot himself. But now, it is either time to produce hard evidence of fraud or move on and focus on 2006.
Here is my suggestion on how to prove the fraud: Do a door to door investigation.
- Go to a county where you think the results are totally incorrect.
- Canvass the neighborhood, go to every single house, and ask people who they voted for. Whether you say who you really are or say you're from a news organization is totally up to you.
- Take names and write down everything, including the time you visited the place.
- If someone slams the door in your face, assume they voted for Bush.
- Take your findings to the following people:
a. The local paper;
b. The local Democratic committeeman;
c. The local TV;
d. The Kos and any other community you're part of;
e. The FBI;
f. The local election judges;
g. The Secretary of State's office;
h. The Kerry campaign people in that area;
i. All the major news organizations.
If someone who believes strongly enough that there was fraud will get enough people to do this, and there is enough evidence that will overturn the results in Florida and Ohio, then I will take to the streets and I would hope millions of other Americans would do so as well.
If you don't, then all that tells me is that you're still in a state of denial over the election, I'm not, and that I should move on and focus on 2006. I would hope most other people reading this would as well.
If all we do is gripe about the election being stolen without hard evidence, then that will only hurt our chances in 2006 and 2008. All Karl Rove has to do is portray his party as calm and collected and us as a bunch of sore losers and conspiracy theory nuts. We're doing Karl Rove's work for him if we continue to gripe about the election without doing something about it.
