Holy Joe is, when you think about it, one bizarre human being. After having a national election stolen from him in broad daylight, he kept on as before. The guy whose ticket he ran on has clearly undergone a profound metamorphosis after that searing experience, but JoeMentum is the same sellout he always was.
On Thursday, he cast a critical vote that shredded the Constitution while giving W some desperately needed political cover. The very next day, W gave a major address in which he openly questioned the patriotism of many of Holy Joe's Senate colleagues. I have yet to see any evidence that JoeMentum was particularly offended by those comments.
Looking at the matter from the perspective of pure self-interest, doesn't Holy Joe ever wake up in the morning and wonder how the hell Cheney became VP when his ticket lost the popular AND the electoral vote? Doesn't he ever look up from his desk every Tuesday when Cheney (at least according to what he told Edwards) presides over the Senate and ask himself why he isn't the one sitting up there? Didn't it bother JoeMentum to see Cheney lie just as brazenly in his debate w/ Edwards in 2004 as he lied in his debate in 2000?
Either HolyJoe has a very low sense of self-esteem, or he is mole. There's really no other explanation for the guy's approach. From the time that he defeated Weicker in 1988 to the present day, when push came to shove, he could always be counted on to undercut his (nominal) own side. Which side actually is his?
