Dumpster Diving: The Freeper Side

Tue Nov 02, 2004 at 09:44:33 AM PDT

First off, I love the entries for people's voting experience -- beautiful and well-written.  Which got me to wondering how it is on the flip side... and so I went dumpster diving at freerepublic.

It's too early for the dem's to be at the polls - they don't have any reason to get up early (and work) so they sleep in til noon . . .

Dive! Dive! Dive!

Ditto here - homeschooling civics lesson, been priming my 14yo dd for this for months with Glenn Beck, Laura Ingraham, Ann Coulter, Rush, and Sean. "We" voted at 9AM in a Philly suburb. No one except the folks handing out literature was discussing their votes.
Moveon pac was located 10ft outside the poll doors, but they were being ignored. My neighbor, who votes reliably pro-abortion and will vote for Kerry, was in line with me (half-hour wait) and didn't have a clue who moveon pac is, which was interesting.

An interesting note; I've voted at this polling place for 10 years, so I don't have to show ID, I just have to sign. The poll worker didn't even compare my sig with the one on file, so if there is voter fraud this precinct will never know.

NEW YORKER DEMOCRATS ARE MAKING THEIR WAY DOWN TO PHILLY IN BUSLOADS!!!
After 9/11, if those NY'ers vote in PA instead of NY thinking their state is safe, maybe Bush could take NY. That would be a hoot!

For what it is worth fellow FReepers, I have never seen voter turn out to be so large in Franklin County, NC. Showed up at the polls at 6:20 am just like in 2000. This morning, the line waiting to vote was at 200+ deep in the small town I live just outside of the city limits ( 3 mi.). In 2000, the line was only 50-60 people deep. We have had some growth in the area, but nothing to reflect the percentage in the turn out this morning to vote since moving to the area in 1991. After leaving the polls1 hr 15 min later, the line was well over 300 people waiting to vote. I believe most Americans that are current and knowledgeable with the issues and can think, know just how important this election is to us all, especially when it comes to the Presidency and filling vacant federal judgeships. Hope and pray W and conservatives all over the nation are elected. Above all, make sure you vote!!

Well, I ventured in to my polling place at 6:45 am and was about 20th in line. I vote in Pacifica CA, a San Francisco Suburb so had to go across a parking lot filled with Kerry bumper stickers and many anti war stickers (probably the aging hippie poll workers) and cast 1 of probably only a dozen votes for Bush, but I feel good that I did it!!!!

GO DUBYA!!

Report from East Boca Raton
I just voted in East Boca Raton (Southern Palm Beach County). Based off the cars outside, it appeared that Bush had a slight edge. There were a lot of cars with Bush stickers and quite a few with anti-Bush/pro-Kerry graffiti on the windows.

Outside the polling place, there was a lady from "Moveon PAC" with a small table and 2 people at a table for Kerry. (All 3 people were older.) The Kerry table had free muffins and water. Interestingly, almost nobody was talking to them and nobody went for the muffins or water. One of the Kerry supporters walked the line and handed them out but that was the most interaction I saw people having with them.

The line at the polling location was the longest I have ever seen it. Normally there is 3 or 4 people in line at most. There was easily about 100 people this time and it took about 20 minutes to get through it. I talked a little bit with the people in line and although we didn't talk about politics directly, they didn't seem the Kerry type. (One was wearing a hat with an American flag on it.)

On the way home there were 2 Kerry supporters, college students, waving home made Kerry/Edwards signs at one fo the street corners. Not much enthusiasm. When I drove by I made eye contact with one of them and flipper her off, I know I shouldn't have done it but I couldn't resist. She put her sign down and didn't look happy.

I'm just watchin Air Force One land in Ohio. It's raining. Weenies will stay home.

"I'm just watchin..."
Can I get me a huntin license here?

My five-year-old son voted with me. I showed him Bush and Cheney, Kerry, etc. and explained to him we were voting for Bush. He knows Kerry is "the bad man who is trying to take President Bush's job."

Lately, he likes to pretend that he is in a jet when we drive in the car. So playing along, I told him that we were in Air Force One, the President's jet. He told me that if Kerry kept it up, he would make him fly a "small" plane and then fire a missile at it.

It occured to me then that he probably understands the importance of this election more than any of us. :-}

Daddy, the girls and I just walked up to our polling place at a local elementary school. We expected crowds but there was none. No one handing out flyers, nothing. Praying for rain in the Detroit area worked!!!!

Votes in.
God Bless GWB and America!

Four more years!!!!

That's LET'S ROLL!!!!
Between excitement and tears, praying for our Father to intervene, I can hardly type. I don't want my 8 year old son to fight 10 years from now because we elected a traitor who should have announced BinLaden as his VP instead of that empty suit from NC.

>>So don't look for too many MTV types to be voting today despite all the hype.
You may be right. I think many of them are much more comfortable making slogans on T-shirts etc... than actually voting.<<

I thaink that the part of the generation that is more into partying will not vote today.
My nephews who work their butts off to support their families will vote, for Bush.

Done...
Opened the local precinct. A long line at 6:00 a.m. - unprecidented for our community.

One man (a Republican) discouraged me. His wife is an invalid - and can't get to the polls by herself. She is also a Democrat. HE won't take her. That's sad.

One lady was almost in tears that Kerry might be elected (fearfull.)

Many encouraging comments from people.

You know what? I don't blame him. I would NOT assist ANYONE who wants to vote to weaken our military, especially at a time of war, whether the person realizes that's what she would be voting for or not.

You have to stand up for what is right, and sometimes it's not easy.

Went to vote Friday.....saw and elderly man tell his wife, "Don't bother reading the ballot , just pencil in STRAIGHT DEMOCRAT"..........turned my stomach for sure!

NOW GO VOTE!

I think their attitude is telling. I love it when somebody does the dumpster diving for me too!

Guy's wife's an invalid, but he won't take her to vote because she's a Democrat. Nothin' like true love, eh?

    She must be so proud.

  •  We laugh (none / 0)

    but he probably IS proud.

This is who we are competing with.

  •  I don't know about you all. (none / 0)

But we, even the most liberal of the liberal would probably never explain to our kids that Bush is an evil man. Or at least try to indoctrinate them. Or maybe I'm wrong, but I'd never try to implant my political views on my kids, rather I'd try to let them figure it out on their own based on the good values that I'd try to instill.
    •  not indoctrinate (none / 1)

but you'd be surprised what kids pick up (see my comment below).

I never talk directly to my son about politics, but he picks up on our attitudes very well. So well, he told me a few days ago, "I liked Howard Dean, but I think John Kerry's good, too."

Where did he come up with that?

    •  Well ... hrrmmm (none / 0)

I may have let the words, "evil" and "Bush," pass my lips a few times in the presence of my children.

HOWEVER, never have I suggested, hinted, implied or even thought that the solution to our national nightmare is to shoot anyone out of the sky, hang him from a tree or in any way, shape or form physically harm him.

Frankly, I wish for former President Bush a long and happy retirement of brush clearing in Crawford and a long, lonely period of reflection.

  •  thanks for dumpster diving.... (none / 0)

so i don't have to. i don't have the stomach for it. most of this is predictable, but sad.

the worst item was the mom who told her  five-year-old son that Kerry is "the bad man who is trying to take President Bush's job."

I told him that we were in Air Force One, the President's jet. He told me that if Kerry kept it up, he would make him fly a "small" plane and then fire a missile at it.

that is truly chilling. and she lets that just pass? what can this woman be thinking?

    Wrong.

    Oh, the cheeky youth!

Here's my five year old talking about his mock election today.

Him: "I'm going to vote for John Kerry"

    Me: "Why, Aidan?"

Him: "Because George Bush starts wars."

    That's my boy!

  •  Well, thanks I guess, for going over to see (none / 0)

what stroke the freepers are using to stay afloat in their tidy bowl pool this morning. Not much surprising. Lot of fearfullness, lot of praying. Lot of remarks about the laziness of Democratic voters. They are in for quite a surprise regarding voter turnout! Can't imagine poisoning a five year old mind regarding someone who has a different point of view as a "bad man". What the heck are they thinking......oh, nevermind!

  •  I went freeping too (none / 0)

Saw some positive people, kind of scared me.  I think I will stay on this side of the fence the rest of the day
  •  SPELLCHECK (none / 0)

It scares to me think these people, who can't even spell basic words are homeschooling their children.

It's very telling of their fear when they pray for rain.  Like that's going to keep away liberals.  You're talking about the same people who will go to Burning Man and not shower for days.  The same people who wallowed in the mud at Woodstock.  The same people who have no problems backpacking across foreign lands.  They think a little rain is going to keep away voters?  Please.  (Okay, I generalized.)

Maybe it's just me, but I don't care who a person is voting for, they have the right to vote.  I just helped a friend of mine send an email to her boss (I tried to get her to CC the CA Labor Dept.).  That's such BS, since we live in CA.  I gave her the link to this site to share with him.

Outta here, I don't deal well with sites that condone racism.
