Another analysis indicates Florida strange

Sat Nov 20, 2004 at 10:37:28 AM PDT

In the flurry of other diaries, this analysis of yet another way Florida seems anomalous got lost in the shuffle, so thought it might -- in light of the Berkeley study -- be a good thing to repost and draw attention to.

The post is by Professor Sam Wang who before the election ran a meta-analysis of all state polls.  After the election, he found a  mismatch between pre-election polls and the outcome in Florida.  Now, this is not  about exit polls, but instead about the statewide polls conducted right up to the time of th election.

To read his analysis in either his Kos diary or on his website.

And for those of you willing to read the long version of this diary, here's a bit of doggerel to thank you:

Florida, oh, Florida,
How many ways art though strange?
Thy exit polls were off,
Thy state polls were off,
Thy e-votes were discrepant.
Bev wanders thy by-roads seeking poll tapes,
There's someone named Fisher spouting off,
But while the days to ask a recount dwindle down,
There seems no one willing to examine thee
And bring peace to our hearts.
