Elevated from the diaries by DemFromCT. What, you think we play favorites with the big states?
And you thought Washington's Governor's race (261 votes, now undergoing a recount was close??
In MONTANA the lower house of the state legislature is currently at 50 Republicans, 49 Democrats and one Independent (Constitutional Party). (Democrats already control the upper house) But the race where the former-Republican Rick Jore "won," he is ahead of Democrat Jeanne Windham by 2 votes, 1559 to 1557(!!)
As Taegan Goddard's Political Wire points out, if the Democrat wins, then the House is tied 50-50 and the party of the newly-elected Democratic governor Brian Schweitzer gets the office of Speaker of the House. In the 2004 election, Democrats also won 4 out of 5 statewide constitutional office races!
Pretty cool "blue lining" in a red state (Bush 59, Kerry 39)!
