The Revolution will not be Televised - Everyone MUST watch this

Sat Nov 06, 2004 at 12:01:52 PM PDT

This is a video everyone MUST watch.  It shows what the Bush administration did to Venezuala in 2002, and how our media just feeds us government propaganda. It is a very good movie. This is exactly what they did in Haiti. They think nothing of overthrowing democratically elected governments in coups, of course they would steal an election in this country if they could.

THE REVOLUTION WILL NOT BE TELEVISED
DIRECTED AND PHOTOGRAPHED BY
KIM BARTLEY AND DONNACHA O'BRIAIN
IRELAND, 2003
74 MINUTES

IN SPANISH WITH ENGLISH SUBTITLES

HUGO CHAVEZ ELECTED PRESIDENT OF VENEZUELA IN 1998, IS A COLORFUL,
UNPREDICTABLE FOLK HERO, beloved by his nation's working class and a
tough-as-nails, quixotic opponent to the power structure that would see him
deposed. Two independent filmmakers were inside the presidential palace on April 11, 2002, when he was forcibly removed from office. They were also
present 48 hours later when, remarkably, he returned to power amid cheering aides. Their film records what was probably history's shortest-lived coup d'état. It's a unique document about political muscle and an extraordinary portrait of the man The Wall Street Journal credits with making Venezuela "Washington,s biggest Latin American headache after the old standby, Cuba."

  •  Very important film (none / 0)

what just knocked me out was the nature of the Chavez revolution, briefly explained in interviews with the people who did it. They printed copies of the constitution and took them into the slums. Formed study groups where people who could read read it out loud. Hundreds of thousands of poor people memorized it. Most had no idea they had a right to vote. The wealthy upper middle class who had run the country from time immemorial were (and still are) shocked and terrified. Chavez has started spending oil money on schools and clinics and trading oil to Cuba for doctors. The world oil cartel is desparate to knock him off. The basis of GHW Bush's personal fortune is a company called Zapata Marine that dealt exclusively in Venezuelan crude. The current president has a personal score to settle with Chavez as he had with Saddam.

  •  Chavez may be nutty.. (none / 0)

.. but he is the PEOPLES nut, and the USA has no business meddling in that country.

    Fucking oil. Again.

What will these people do with themselves when there is nothing more in the ground to trip over and sell for a huge profit? 21st century rape and pillage, that is all.

Attention: 22nd century historical scholars reading this quaint archive of the early 21st century internet history. Many citizens reject and wring our hands at the actions of our corrupt leaders. Will you judge us as we judged germans who stood silently while the jews were rounded up? I hope not, but I fear so.
