I'll happily delete this when N in Seattle or Susanhu weighs in.
[UPDATE: they're not going to weigh in, so this stays. However, the campaign itself has weighed in with this diary, so feel free to recommend them and let this one sink.]
According to the Seattle Times, Chris Gregoire has announced that she'll concede the Governor's race unless the party can raise enough money by COB today to pay for a full statewide recount.
[UPDATE: If you want the DNC to pony up and cover the cost, please contact them at 202-863-8000 or use this form to e-mail them. However, don't expect a miracle. You should still contribute to the state Party and keep your receipt. You can't just hope that complaining to the DNC will result in these much-needed funds; you still have to step up and do your part.]
More after the jump.
Of course, this goes against the cynical logic (count counties that favor you, change the results, then get the state to pay for a full recount). But it also goes directly against what the Republicans have accused her of doing, which is preparing to cherry-pick votes. It also is exactly what many of us in the progressive community and here at Kos want her to do.
A statewide recount would require an initial payment of $750,000.
As of today, the party has $500,000 in the bank, said Democratic spokeswoman Kirstin Brost.
Democrats have talked about the possibility of only asking for a recount in counties, or even just in precincts, where Gregoire would be most likely to pick up votes.
Gregoire told state party Chairman Paul Berendt today she won't allow him to do that in her name.
Rossi's already held a victory party, in a spectacularly arrogant move. We need to raise at least $250,000 TODAY if the recount is to happen - without it, she will concede.

Update [2004-12-2 17:16:44 by switzerblog]: Weathercoins posted a diary sharing the MoveOn donation page. If you trust neither the DNC nor the state Party, contribute here. Please remember that at the end of the day, all this money needs to be in the state Party's coffers by tonight.
I think she ran a terrible campaign, and was a terrible candidate - but this is the first time she's actually taken a stand - and it's exactly the stand she should be taking! I urge you, if you want progressive voices taken seriously, reward her stance today. You can also e-mail her campaign to thank her for making the right decision.
