Now, I may be addlebrained, and in fact, some of my conservative friends have, in fact, told me that I am.
However, I distinctly remember Bush saying during the debates that he wanted to INCREASE the availability of Pell Grants, not decrease them.
Well, that was a lie.
http://www.cnn.com/2004/EDUCATION/12/23/pell.grants/index.html
A change in eligibility for Pell Grants to be announced Thursday by the Department of Education would cut some 90,000 students from the rolls of recipients and affect more than 1 million others, an education advocate says.
More below the fold...
The guy couldn't even wait until he was sworn in for his second term before breaking campaign promises. As a college student that does rely on Pell grants as part of my aid, this sickens me to no end.
If nothing else, this has killed what little hope I had that despite my misgivings, Bush would at least keep his word and try to improve the country, even if I disagreed with the methods involved.
Well, that type of naivete won't strike me anymore.
EDIT: Cleaned it up a bit, fixed a few misspellings, and read the manual on how to make a block quote. Thanks Plutonium Page!
