With the rise of Kerry and Edwards, I started thinking about what might happen once Congress reconvenes next week.
I assume both Edwards and Kerry will continue to miss a lot of votes (perhaps Gep will drop out and try to turn around his abysmal voting absentee record).
But there are sure to be some high profile votes coming up. The omnibus bill, which if it remains as it is currently written, will take away overtime from 8 million people, is one of these. The energy bill is likely to come back up in the near future. I'm not sure how quickly Bush wants to move on Immigration "reform." Then there's the unforseeable things--some wacky Bush policies that are sure to infuriate Dems.
Anyway, I'm wondering if the sitting Congress-critters will show any more spine than they have for the previous 3 years of Bush's administration? Or will Kerry, who attended the attempted filibuster on Medicare but didn't show up to vote against the actual bill, just continue to stay away?
